ABSTRACT: Former mineral water springs in Dudince Spa and the Santovka Village vicinity in southern central Slovakia gradually disappeared during boring works; leaving only the current dry craters. Natural curative water from well S-3 in the Dudince Village and almost identical geothermal water from well B-3A in Santovka village has Na-Ca-HCO3-Cl chemical type with essential carbon dioxide and hydrogen-sulphide gas content, and approximately 6 g/l TDS. The Dudince, Santovka and Slatina mineral waters have mixed mineral composition because different mineralization processes are involved at their creation sites. They therefore have different portion of waters with the following mineralization: silicate-genic, hydrosilicate-genic, sulphate-genic, carbonate-genic and marine-genic. Mineral water discharge is bound at tectonically influenced zones in the Búr and Štiavnica streams valleys, and the number of artificial hydrogeological objects with different mineral water types in the Dudince, Santovka and Slatina discharge areas indicates dispersion of sub-surface mineral water. The proportion of different mineralization processes in final water chemical composition is documented in the Langelier-Ludwig (= Tolstichin) and Bačová graphs. The studied mineral waters are meteoric in origin; with higher content of light hydrogen and oxygen isotopes in the S-3 and B-3A water sources demonstrating colder climate conditions at the time of infiltration. These source waters’ older age is confirmed by the absence of tritium and the very low modern-carbon content.
