ABSTRACT: As a part of activities connected with compilation of hydrogeologic map of the Medzibodrožie region (southern part of the Eastern Slovakian Lowland, Slovakia), aquifers` permeability and transmissivity were studied. Results of hydrodynamic testing on 204 older boreholes were reevaluated, in order to determine such hydraulic parameters as permeability index Z, transmissivity index Y, hydraulic conductivity k and transmissivity coefficient T. Statistical analysis of these data revealed very low regional variability of the Quaternary fluvial sediments permeability, both in vertical profile and laterally. Therefore, transmissivity of this aquifer varies depending on its thickness from T = 4.84·10-3 m2·s-1 to T = 1.89·10-2 m2·s-1, across the neotectonic structures of studied area. Geostatistical analysis using semivariograms showed W – E direction of geometric anisotropy in this aquifer, corresponding with general course of transport during fluvial sedimentation. Aquifers hosted by the Neogene formations are at least one order of magnitude less permeable, comparing to the fluvial Quaternary aquifer.
