ABSTRACT: The Malý Dunaj River is the longest Danube River left branch. Its length is about 126.6 km. The data from Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute and our own field measurements and chemical and microbiological analysis were used in the study. In the paper microbiological profile and basic chemical composition of surface water in Malý Dunaj River are evaluated. Long term changes of water quality were interpreted for the period 1967 - 2008. Water quality was checked on the basis of the Government Regulation No. 269/2010.
